I haven't changed a key switch in a column in a
long time. I somewhat remember having to turn the
key to the accessary position. Then on the face
of the switch you might find a small hole. You
must put a small wire into the hole to release
the switch. Remember to unhook the battery just in
case. If I'm right it may help. If not I'm sorry.
