The Glovebox was optional on 1973 models and standard on '74-'77 models. You can install one from a '73-'75 model (if you get the whole lower dash section with the duct work and everything), but the '76-'77 models do not have a place for the hand parking brake lever. They had a foot parking brake and the fuse box was relocated to where the hand brake used to be. Also; It's tough to find these parts in good condition as they are usually cracked...

: There was no glovebox on a 1971 Maverick. These cars (like most cars) have a heater core which can be purchased from any auto parts store for $25-$35. The non-a/c heater cores are the easiest to replace. If your car has a/c, it's a real BITCH. Mavericks did not have adjustable valves. The best way to fix your cylinder head problem (although not the least expensive way) is to replace the six cylinder motor with a 302 Ford V-8. As far as repair manuals: I use Chilton's (ISBN 0-8019-6634-5) and for whatever it lacks, I'll look at a MOTOR repair manual. A mechanic friend of mine has them but you can also find them at your local library...

: : Howdy
: : I recently bought a 1971 Maverick with a 6 cylinder 200cu.
: : In the process of trying to drill out a bolt that broke off in
: : the rear flange of the head (Exhaust Manifold Bolt) I didn't quite
: : drill as straight as I thought I had. turns out most of the bolt
: : is still there on the bottom but most is gone on the top. Sigh.
: : My roommate, who's far more knowledgable about cars & engines than I am,
: : asked if I'd ever reset the valves before. We had to take the head off
: : to fix the bolt hole & obviously had to remove the valve's to do that.
: : I haven't been able to find any repair manuals or specs on this car for the
: : life of me. What do I need to know to get them back on & functioning properly?
: : Do any of you know where I can get a book on this car/engine?
: : I'm also trying to find a heater coil, hood, bumper, grill, and the flashing(?)
: : that the license plate goes on (front). The body work is not priority right now
: : as what's left is in pretty good condition other than some rust on the underside
: : of the hood where the chrome strip attaches (or at least used to) :-). The main
: : things I'm interested in now is the info on car/engine. I'm also curious if there
: : was a glove box option on the 71 Mav and if so about how much would it run to
: : get a Blue glove box?

: : Thanx in advance.

: : Steve
