Been there, done that...back when I had my '73 Comet V8 in high school (uh, about sxxxxteen years ago!!) I was 'motoring' around a curve when she 'got away from me' (loved those bias ply tires !) and decided to back itself, with me along for the ride, into an embankment. Of all the places along that road for about a mile in either direction I had found the ONE tree stump that hadn't been removed by the farmer who owned the land...it promptly removed the rear valance and reduced the gas tank capacity to about ten gallons! The toughest part was trying to explain to my inquiring dad how I had managed to accomplish such a task...I just smiled sheepishly and he quipped, "Boy, you're gonna get yourself killed in that thing...you need a six cylinder"...I simply replied that a set of radials would fix the problem.
