I don't claim to know EVERYTHING about these cars (especially South American models), but 1967 was the last year that Ford produced the 289 V-8 in the United States. My guess is that someone probably installed the 289 into the car in question after the fact, and that it's not original. Either that or it's really a 302 which looks just like a 289 externally. From what I've read, the South American Maverick GT came with a 302, Grabber hood, and 4-speed. They also had taillights like the ones you described; but I've been wrong before...
: I'm about to buy this car but I've never heard about this version in Mexico. It's got a central hood long "hunch" with no air intakes, individual racin' seats at front, four speed floor shifter and some kinda double rear position lites. Uh! It's got a 289 factory engine. The other characteristics were set from the dealer. Got any idea about this model?
