Well now; Let's take all the sights and sounds.
The "Clunking & Bumping" sounds like something
internal and rotating let loose. The "Sudden
Smoke" sounds like something went through the
water jacket and the coolant wound up in the
exhaust manifold. The black fluid that looks like
oil is more than likely oil. That's where the
smoke under hood would come from. Sounds like
there should be an exit point for that oil(Like a
hole in the block or pan where that "Clunking
sound" went). I have had connecting rods blow in
racing engines and depending where they wind up
the engine will still crank. I would look a little
closer. I would drop the oil pan and look.
