I have taken several out, but I have never put any back in. Yes, the back and front windows have to be out (Recommended anyways), as well as the weatherstrip around the rear quarter windows and around the doors. There are also two plactic pieces on each side of the windshield at the top of the pillars. Remove these carefully with 2 small screwdrives on either side of the plastic piece. Apply small, even pressure to the screwdrives to gently push them out. I have found it is alot easier with the windshield out. Now remove the headliner from the front toward the back. You will also need to remove any seatbelts, coat hangers, etc as you go. Also remove the overhead lite. The metal hoops can be gently pushed up and out on one side to remove them. When you get to the very back hoop, it has little wires on it that will hold the metal hoop up off the seats. It is for this reason that when you re-install your new headliner, you start from the back. Hook these little wires thru the new headliner into the rear hoop. Now the headliner will "hang" there while you work to get that first hoop installed. now intall the rest of the hoops, glue the edges down where necessary, and reinstall everything.

I hope that helps.
