Factory Air ????

I have just recently had some work done on the
AC system in my 77. Both the Ford dealer and a
garage told me that the "Factory" did not install
AC in Mavs, they were all Dealer installed.
What's with all these people saying they have
"Factory Air" ??? Should that be "Dealer Air" or
is someone blowing smoke ?
