He refused $1000??? Don't offer him any more!! Even though it's a 302, it IS a 4 dr. and I wouldn't offer more than $500. As far as fixing the car goes, the drivetrain shares a lot of common parts with other Ford cars and should be easy enough to repair. Body and trim is another story. Although there are more and more reproduction parts available now, most of us spend a lot of time combing the junkyards for stuff that you just can't buy for a Maverick anymore.
: Found a 1972 4-door 302 in good shape in and out. (Also has factory air which works and 75K original miles). Took it for a drive, and it was perfect except the steering was crap. Husband looked under car and said something to do with the steering that should have been a sealed bearing system was exposed. Then offered the guy $1000. which he refused. What's this car worth, and how hard would it be to find the parts to fix it?
