The front disc spindles ARE the same from '74 (disc) to '77 Mavericks as well as Ford Granadas, Mercury Marquis and Lincoln Versailes. Disc Brakes (non-power) were an option in '74 and standard in '75-'77, with power assist being optional. Ford used a different proportioning valve in '75-'77 models. If you perform this swap (I've done it), try to get the part of the brake lines that runs from the proportioning valve to the front wheels so that the flex hoses will fit properly. I have a '73 Maverick and I used spindles from a '75. But everything else is pretty much the '74 disc brake setup. Also, your original drum brake pedal will be WAY too high with the disc Master cylinder because it has a different bend from the disc brake cars. However, the plastic brake pedal bushings will not fit into the disc brake pedal ('70-'73 models--I'm not 100% sure about '74) so you will need to have it honed out by a Machine shop or use a shorter master cylinder rod with the original pedal. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? It is definately worth it in the long run though because discs work SO MUCH BETTER than those crappy drum brakes...

: Do the disc brake spindles from a '77 maverick fit on a '74? Are the the same? I don't want to use the power brake booster, I want to use the manual master cylinder, the same as my other '74 that has discs already. The only thing is that I will have to buy the '77 to get the spindels, and if they don't fit it'll be a waste of cash. Thanks Dave
