I recently purchased the car and found that when I shift into first to save the breaks while going down hills, I doesn't go into first and when I leave a stop sign with the shifter in first, it starts in second. The transmission does go into first when starting out in Drive. The trans seems fine anytime else. Is this what it is supposed to do? If it is, why? If not, is it a linkage adjustment? I'm a poor teenager and don't have the money to take it into the shop. :-) Thanks in advance!
