: Several months ago I purchased a 74 Comet. When I got it there were, and still are, 235/60-14s on the back and 205/70-14s on the front. I've actually gone a little smaller in the front, just put 195/70s on today, and expect to do the same in the rear when they wear out.

: I bought them at Sam's for undr $50 each including mounting, balancng, lifetime roatation, etc. They are cheap tires and only have a 40000 mile warranty but Sam's Club has other better tires at varying prices.

: If you're wondering, with the 235/60s the speedometer is very close. On mine, the tire size sticker is still readable on the door and it says that d78-14 and 185/70-14 are the optional tire sizes with c78-14 being the base size.

: Oh, and if you are using the original rims, watch that you don't go too wide, it can cause funny tire wear. Mine are Aluminum rims, probably aftermarket.

If you're gonna go with wider tires, go with 8 inch rims.
