: Okay, life with my Mav just got kicked into high gear...

: Timing chain is shot..big time. The car barely runs. So, my
: plans for rebuilding my spare engine are being accelerated really quickly.
: So, naturally, I have a few questions:

: 1. A freind of mine has an AOD tranny that he just removed from his car.
: This tranny was rebuilt within the last two years. Besides the required
: aftermarket shifter (for overdrive), and shortening the driveshaft
: is there anything else required to make this work.

: 2. What would be better, a set of early heads reworked or a set of late
: model 5.0 heads? Can a set of basically stock (port & polish etc)
: '70ish 302 heads flow with a decent cam and 600cfm carb?

: Here's what I am considering:

: Holley 600 (model 4160 modified to a 4150 (almost...))
: Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake
: Edelbrock Performer RPM cam & lifters (or Motorsport 270 int, 280 exh
: duration and 472 int, 484 exh lift)
: MSD 6AL ignition system
: 9.0:1 compression
: TCI Rattler or Fluidamper
: 3.55 rearend
: 2 1/4" exhaust with Dynomax mufflers

: Any advise would be welcome and appreciated

: P.S., if any one with Desk Top Dyno feels
: up to it, I would appreciate know about
: what to expect from this engine

: Thanks, Brian
the early heads don't have the harden seats for long them use, later heads especialy the swirl chamber ones well be your best bet, just put early 351W size valves in them. Hp probably 280-315 depending on the heads.
