If you can fix the problem of the car not starting once you get it home, it would be a great way to lower the asking price for the car. I'm assuming your going to buy the car, but want to hear it first. If you can buy it before they start it, you could tow it home, and spend some money on fuel filter, ignition parts, ect... and get it started, and only pay about half the asking price. If it's in good shape as far as the body is conserned, and the engine looks ok, considering plugs, oil leaks, ect... I would buy it as is, and talk them down to dirt cheap. Try to convince them that the engine is probably shot, even tho it might not be.

: Went to the yard to check out the Comet today and here's what happend, I'm at a loss...

: First, it's been sitting a LOOOOONG time, the battery of course is toast. Starter seems to also be bad as we had to use the old "screwdriver to the selenoid" trick.
: The points seem ok, the roter turns and the car cranks really hard BUT won't catch. It tries but as soon as you let go of the throttle there's silence (ecept the guy who's cursing up a storm). the carb IS getting gas (hell the damn thing is leaking a bit) so I don't think it's a feul pump problem....
: What do you think?
