You do need either new head bolts with shoulders (expensive) or a set of collars cuz the head bolts for a 351W are larger than the 302, these cost about $40. You also need a different head gasket but that doesn't really cost any more than the regular one. As to the combustion chambers, my stock 70 302 heads had 58cc chambers and the 69 351W heads had 60cc chambers, not a huge difference. The difference actually can help hold the ratio down a little when going to flat top pistons as I have done. The later 302 and 351W both had larger combustion chambers so those can cause a problem. The advantage of the 351W heads is in the larger ports which can be a problem for the 302. It is a hell of a deal but if you decide to pass please let me know privately by email, don't say anything to Starnes.
