I put 1980 Granada front spindles on my 1970 Maverick. I didn't change the tierods, I just bolted everything on. I've driven it over 20,000 miles with no problems, including two 1300 mile round trips to the Maverick nationals. Maybe a test fit is in order.

: : : I have gone the route and changed over to 5 lug disc spindles from a
: : : Granada. I am now looking to buy all new steering components. Sometime,
: : : on this board, it was said that this swap works well but you must use
: : : some or all of the tie rods from the Granada. Can someone comment on this
: : : and if I need to use any of the Granada parts could anyone explain why?
: : : I went to a few auto parts stores today and when you start with a 70
: : : Maverick and then have them look up parts for a 75 Granada they loose
: : : their sense of humour. You would think that after looking up parts for
: : : Hondas, Escorts and Blazers all day that they would welcome the challenge.

: : The reason is the ball joint shafts where they go in the spinkles are a different size , bigger I believe. the threaded shaft is the same just the outer balljoints. Older cars aren't usually on the computer, they have to use the parts books and most of them have no idea how to do that. It's like the other question on adjusting points, piece of cake, if they still can't find the part numbers give me a call at : rickyracer81@hotmail.com. I can give you the Moog part #s. no problem I have the books, and the talent to look it up.

: :granada's are great for parts. front disc brakes fit mustangs, mavericks, falcons. If you have manual steering they will bolt right up
: on 'stang and mavericks for powersteering the left side tie rod is the problem. most of them are bent and the newer granada is not, I have found a rebuilder shop to make I bushing to use the old tie rods. the bushing is made to fit in the granada spindle and down size the hole to the right size for the maverick tie rods ends. GOOD LUCK.
