: I'm getting confused. Can someone please clarify a few points? OK

Q. Do all Versailles have 9" rear ends?
A. NO some have 8" rear ends and some even have 8.8" rear ends.
Q. Do any of them also have Traction-Loc?
A. Yes it was an option.
Q. Can you convert a non-Traction-Loc Versaille rear end using the Traction-Loc from a Mustang II or other Traction-Loc equipped car?
A. YES Traction-Loc can be put on any rear end it is an after market device and is easier to purchase a new one and install it than to find a used one and try to swap it. most run in the $150-250 range in price and are called by brand, Detroit locker, ARB air locker, Ford Traction-Loc, Dana Limited Slip, and so on and so on.
Q. What parts would be involved?
A. Most come in a kit.
Q. What's this about having to change the "pumpkin"?
A. That is where the gear set is and where the Locker is mounted to.
Q. What's a pumpkin exactly?
A. Or center section is the removable(in most cases)section of the rear end that has all of the gears on it. To remove it in a 9" or 8" you need to pull the axles 1st, then un bolt it from the housing, it is simalar in size and shape as a pumpkin and as hard to handle that is where the nick name came from.
Q. What's a "war case"?
A. I have no idea??
Q. To use the Versaille rear disc brakes do you need to use the Versaille front brakes too?
A. NO but if you have a Versaille that you are pulling the rearend out of for the brakes, you mine as well get the front brakes too, and the master cylinder, and the front sway bar, and the 302 and c4 and what ever else you can get, it is always a good idea to get as much as you can because you never know what you will need later on.
Thanks for any help offered. John B.
Your welcome,Todd.
