Yes, it could, but usually when the voltage regulator goes bad...it allows too much voltage to go to the instrument panel...thus making the gas guage read high. But I suppose it could make your dash lights too bright....but I doubt this is the problem you were asking about.

I keep it topped off and have no problems as I know about how far I can run on a tank. The problem is when the wife drives it, she doesn't. The wiring seems OK, so could it be the gauge or something else?
