: I know basically what a Grabber hood looks like, but how do you know that it is 100% genuine? Are there any identifying characteristics? I have heard reference to Grabber hood inserts. Are these in the place of the two holes in the hood, and how do you know if they are genuine? Are there any FoMoCo numbers anywhere?

: There are probably better authorities out there on this then me, but I can't for the life of me imagine that Mavericks are "hot" enough to warrant someone making steel counterfeit Grabber hoods, or the inserts that form the leading edges and fake openings to the scoops. There are fiberglass hoods out there but they are easily distinguishable from the real thing. Stamped metal body parts like hoods don't usually have parts numbers on them: for that matter I don't remember seeing any on the scoop inserts either. Again, I don't think you need to worry about numbers--there aren't likely any fakes out there. One last note--don't buy a set of inserts with the intent of making a stock hood into a Grabber hood. This may not be impossible, but it's close enough to it that you shouldn't even think of it. As expensive as these hoods are, they are worth the price when compared to the idea of making one out of a stock hood.John B.
