I build and race asphalt circle track cars. I use a 3 link coil suspension
in a Monte Carlo(sorry). I use 2 lower links installed level leading
from the rear toward the front of the car. There is a shorter third link
at the center top of the rear angled downward toward the front of the car
also. This must me angled downward to be able to plant the rear tires
to the ground. The last item is a 36" long panhard bar mounted at the
left bottom of rear going behind the center housing to the right side
frame rail. Then Afco racing coils are used. The problem with doing the
same thing to a Maverick is the lack of frame rails to mount your link
points being it is a uni-body car. Any 3 or 4 link setup is going to
require a rear frame section also. On a redemtion note on my Monte, it
does have a 9" rear in it.
