: : Will those work with a 302 or will they hang down too far under the car(you know 351 taller deck highth and all)?? Only reason I ask is that I have 351 heads on my 302 and they have larger exhaust ports than the Hedman 302 headers that I have on it now and I'm having a hard time keeping a seal on the gaskets. The heads have rectangular ports and the headers have oval ports that are smaller than the rectangular ones at the corners and all of the gaskets I get have rectangular openings on them so there is not a good seal. If anyone has any ideas on how to make this work, without having to buy new headers, please let me know.

: : : Not that is has not been said 100 times before but I would just like to confirm to whoever is doing 351w swaps that the hedman swap headers for the 64-68 mustang part number 88650 with the 1 5/8" tubes and 3" collector do fit, very tight but they do fit.

: : : : I have a 70 Maverick , I just installed a 302 and I am wondering if Tri-Y headers made for Mustangs will fit?

: :TParker- I don't know if this is of any use to you. I notice that, quite reasonably, you are looking for a solution that doesn't require you to buy new headers. In the event that you're left with no alternative, this may interest you. When I called Summit looking for headers for a 302 Mav with 351 heads and a 4 speed they sent me a set of Hooker Competition headers #6901. According to the instructions these are suitable for 351 Mustsngs (and other Ford models) as well as 302 Mavs and Comets. A special bracket (#10961) is necessary for power steering cars. The good news is that the ports on these headers are rectangular. There is a note in the instructions that some denting of the tube near the power steering ram may be necessary. I haven't installed these yet, so this is not a testimonial based on first hand experience. I hope it helps in any case. John B.
