...shift collars on my column. I used a cheap-ass Spark-o-matic "Mario Andretti" model. It required fabricating mounting brackets because the tail housing for the column shift had no mounting holes. I didn't have to cut the cross-member because everything fit close to the trans case. I later switched to a 4speed toploader with Hurst Indy. That required cutting the narrow tunnel. In retrospect I should have spent the extra money on a Competition Plus because it would have fit better. A later car has a wider trans tunnel that won't need any modification. Still, I haven't had any problems after nearly 300,000 miles.
