Lance,

A few considerations with the AOD. First of all, it is longer than a C4, so you will not be able to use the stock cross member. There is a company called WindsorFox that will make one for you, or you can have one made by a good body shop. You will also have to shorten the driveshaft, and change the shifter to accommodate the extra gear in the AOD.
If you plan to install dual exhaust, wait until after you get the transmission mounted so that you can be sure you'll have the proper clearance. There shouldn't be a problem with the headers themselves, but I can't vouch for all brands.

As far as the compatibility with a carb, I can't say for sure but I'd imagine that it's because of the kickdown. The AOD uses a flexible cable as opposed to a rigid rod. The cable fits into a bracket that is part and parcel of the EFI setup, so I'm not sure how you could adapt it to a carb. You could probably make such a bracket, but proper adjustment might be a bear. Some people just leave it off all together, and downshift manually. This is a pain, but I guess you have to make some compromises… I hope this helps - please feel free to contact me anytime. :)

: Sam,

: I know you swapped an Aod into your Mav. a few ?s for you. Did it bolt up to the crossmember or did it have to be modified and how so.
: Also have any clearance problems with hedders? Also I am going carb, I know you went FI i want to but not on this car, next one I promise. I see all the advertisements forom the carb companies and they all say Except AOD Do you know why? i guess it has something to do with the kickdown etc..... Well Thanx for any information you can give me.

: Lance
