A 460 Maverick is my dream... I'd love to have a Big Block maverick, I have a 460 in a 1990 Mustang, easy fit with lots of room, and it runs very hard. i don't hink you can fit the 460 in the maverick though without converting over to a Mustang II front end. Good Luck

: : I have a spare Mav just dying for a big motor to replace the wimpy I-6. I'm going to attempt some cutting of the shock towers and firewall for clearance (don't worry, the mav is wrecked and isn't that nice...). Does anyone know if a C-6 and C-4 have the same output shaft? Do any of you guys have some 460 speed parts you want to sell? like intake manifolds, headers, high comp. pistons, 429 heads, stuff like that?
: : I'd like to make my own headers (saw a couple Fords at the dragstrip, and the guys said they weren't that hard to make) Has anyone tried to lighten a maverick? What stuff can be lost that won't ruin the structure of the car? I might trash all the Glass and get some plexi, will it pass inspection? I'll probably weld in some subframe connectors. Anyway, I'm gonna have a lot of time on my hands this summer. Has anyone else tried to fit a 460 in a Mav? I mostly want to do it just because no one has any big block Ford cars around here and to give Mavericks a little more respect. It should be somewhat fast just because of the size of the motor in a light car. What do you guys think?

: While there is no replacement for engine replacement...make no mistake about it, a 460 is heavy! Big block, means big lots (brakes, cooling, shocks, springs,). I know a guy who drag races a Mav. He replaced all the glass witha special plexi that he screwed in. He also gutted the interior except for the driver's seat. Everything is bare metal. You are definitely going to have to weld on subframe connectors....and the kind of speed your looking to drag at, will need a roll cage (4pt. or 6pt. depending on speeds ran) and a driveshaft loop. Also, big block hi pro. parts are a lot more spendy and harder to come by...I think it's great to be daring and experimental...but on the practical side....you should look at some of the super hi-po 351w stuff.....there are a couple of Hot Rod mag. articles that are really impressive and would give respect to even the lowly Mavericks......Good Luck.
