Well it's been some 22 or more years since i installed the 4 speed in my 76 Stallion. My 4 gear was out of a freshly totalled 67 Shelby. I believe the tranny to be a borg warner t-10. I installed a set of gaskets on it when i bought it and then went to slip it into my car. First of all i had to drill and tap new threads as the new tranny had a different bolt pattern than my stock 3 speed. Luckily the crossmember worked out fine! I also had to trim just a little bit of floor to make way for the Hurst Competition Plus shifter. I still have the same trans and shifter in the car and while i have grenaded engines and done in 1 rear end and gone thru piles of clutches and pressure plates, my 4 gear has stayed in perfect shape and has never even given the slightest hint of trouble. By the way I had the foresight to save the original trans for my car as well as the stock shifter :)
: Your probably looked at a 4 speed with a hurst shift kit. These swaps
: are pretty clean looking. I have said this before but it is worth repeating
: the Maverick gets a lot of benefits from the pre 1974 Mustang. There are
: a few shift kits for the Mustang that are a direct bolt in for Mavs.
