It's probably a 7.5" rearend. An easy ID is if it has a removable rear cover (bolts on the back) then it's a 7.5"...IF it has a 'solid' back (the front section comes out) then it's (if stock) an 8". Good donors for the "open" 8 inch geared to 3.55 are the 74-78 V6 Pintio/Bobcat and V6 &V8 Mustang II (more available in yards) and the smallblock V8 equipped intermediate sized "Fords" from the 60's & 70's like the Falcon/Comet/Fairlane/Torino/Montego/Mustang/Cougar/Econoline (vans&p-ups). They're out there, you just have to be persistent...now Trac Locs are ANOTHER story!

: I have a 72 mav with a 351 but originally had a 200. Any ideas what gear ratio they came with? It's high! I was told it could be a 2.99 ratio and a 7.7" rearend. Could it be that small? I hope it's atleast an 8". I'd like to get a 3.55. Any possible donors you know of? Thanks for any input.
