A Grabber is nothing more than a trim & stripe package for the '74 Maverick and is mechanically no different than a standard Maverick.
'77 and later 351 heads are identical to 302 heads and have the same size valves & ports and would be a waste of time to install. Older 351-W heads have slightly larger valves but also have bigger combustion chambers which will LOWER your compression ratio. Not good for performance unless you rebuild the engine with taller pistons. Also, the older 351-W heads use larger bolts than the 302 heads so you will need an adaptor stud kit to install them and a special gasket because the 351-W heads also have an extra water jacket thet isn't used on a 302...
: My question is what is the difference between the 74 maverick and the Grabber? I just picked up my grabber today for 500.00. It seems to run good. Just needs a few mechanical and cosmetic repairs. My other question is what do I have to change if I put 351w heads on my 302?
