First which Carter Carb. do you have? If it has vacumn secondaries check and make sure the springs are still okay. The I terminal only energizes when the solenoid is engaged ( see my comments on MMB #2). Tap into the wire on the switch side of the ballast resistor wire ( it's insullation feels more 'rubery' than the rest of the wires. This should get you a good source for switched 12v.
Good luck again.
: Okay...I had the problem of starting up me newly built 302.
: First, I'm supposed to make a connection to a "12V ignition switch source" from the ballast resistor. I was told that I could just connect to the "I" terminal on the solenoid. However this doesn't work, the coil won't spark.
: Second, I have a Carter Carb...and apparently the secondaries like to fly open once started. there doesn't seem to be an mechanism to control them..the just can open after the overcome a weight. What's up here?
: Any help is greatly appreciated...
: thanks
