giving it a COMPLETE tune-up, increasing the timing (careful, not too much), installing an open element air-cleaner, a larger diameter exhaust pipe with free-flowing muffler, remove EGR (check local emmission laws). : The BEST way to increase the performance of your car is to remove the 200 I-6 and replace it with a 302 V-8. If you can't afforsd to do that right now, save your pennies until you can because there ain't no cheaper way...

: : I have a 71 maverick with the 200 I-6 and would like to know any way I can increase the performance on a students budget. It was bought with a B&M shifted C4 auto. Everything else is pretty stock.
