The only way to be entirely sure you have a Traction-Lok limited slip differential is to look at the identification tag. If there is the letter "L" in place of the decimal point in the ratio, (example 3L00 as opposed to 3.00) then it is a Traction-Lok. Though my set of "Factory" Ford shop manuals lists the Maverick /Comet as one of the cars that could have possibly come with a Traction-Lok, I have never known one to exist. It would not be hard to swap one in, though. Stay tuned to this web site for my upcoming article detailing Maverick rear end swaps. Among other things, I plan to list all the details for decoding those identification tags.

: Was a possi traction rear ever an option in any Mavericks? How can you tell
: a possi rear on a car that isnt running, ie. in a junk yard? I understand that
: it isnt safe to use after market spools, like Strange spools to lock the rear
: together, anyone ever try it on a street driven Maverick? I hear it is a
: problem going around curves.
