I agree with Paulie. Even if it's $450 in addition to the $150 I think you'd be getting a fair deal for a 302 Mav that runs. The experts on this page, which I am not, will be able to tell you more.

: Hello my name is Brian Clifton, and I am an 18 year old living in fort myers, FL. I am interested in having a nice maverick, and I have found a 1973 maverick for sale. The body is ok and the interior is in especially good condition, but the original 302 engine is no longer working. The owner of the car will sell it for 150 dollars with no engine, or put a lincoln towncar 302 in for 450 dollars, and he says that everything is working, just the engine has blown. If this is really the case, and the new engine will work, how expensive are maverick parts, just in the case that the drive train or any parts underneath or engine related parts break down in the future? I'm not a car expert, but I'm sure many of you are. Perhaps you can email me, I would gladly appreciate it.
