I like Mavericks lowered, looks better than stock height and lifting any rear end higher than stock is 70's style... do you wear bell bottoms and a buterfly collar too?
: Be careful when lowering that you don't screw up the suspension geometry. I lowered my front end the "Shelby" way - relocating the upper a-arms 1" lower. This necessitated fabricating wedges for the upper ball joints. The change in geometry would have caused the ball joints to bind, and possibly break, otherwise. This mod also corrects the bump steer inherent in the oem front design. I lowered the rear by having the front eyes reverse-wound. This not only dropped the back but also eliminated the roll-steer designed in by the factory. The front and rear eyes are now parallel. This totally eliminated the "loose" feel on turn in. You would not believe how stable the transient handling is.
: : Lower is not all bad, it lowers the center of gravity of the car which makes it handle better, baring that you don't slam it to the ground and eliminate the suspention all together like the skateboards do(Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda go cart cars). To fix the sag in my Grabbers ass I cut the front spring 2 full coils, it now sits level and low, I have wide tires 225 65R 15's on the front and they do not rub. And for all you guy's that are going to tell me not to cut the coils with a torch I did not do it that way I cut them with a hack saw(6 blades and 2hrs, I cut 1 coils tried it then cut the other and liked it) Also the front does not bottom out on any thing(hard cornering, speed bump or dips in the road). The only problem I've had with this is that with the front end tightend up(new bushing all around) the ass end feel's very lose that is why I'm going with the 4leaf spring and a new sway bar that is the best way to ferm up the rear.
: : : "looks better" ? Doubt it..... matter of opinion I guess but to me some of these lowered cars look just rediculas!
: : : Saw a "lowered" old honda... micro wheels and all... what a laughable waste of money...
