Springs that are too stiff actually reduce the tires' adhesion to the road, especially when you encounter a bumpy or rough surface. It'll probably do great in slalom racing at the track but in the REAL world of driving, it could be a bit much. Ideally, you want springs that are not too stiff OR too soft, you want good sway-bars, stiff bushings, wide low-profile tires, good shocks (they don't have to be Konis) and the subframe connectors will definately help...

: Your right about the higher spring rate the front is much stiffer and with all new bushings it got even stiffer, hopfully with a new sway bars(front and back), subframe conectors, Monte Carlo bar, Ford Export brace, 4leaf rear springs, and new Koni shocks it will corner like it's on rails, this is my prodject this year, beef up the handling!!! What do you think T.L. will it handle like it's on rails?

: : You could have used an electric dye grinder and a couple of discs (with PROPER eye protection) and it would have been MUCH quicker & easier. Also; when you cut coil springs, they actually get stiffer (increases the spring rate) which can be good or bad, depending on the situation. Also when you lower a car, it puts the oil pan in serious jeopardy of getting busted. It does look cool though. Lowered Mavericks look nothing like a lowered Honda/Nissan/Toyota...

:
: : : Lower is not all bad, it lowers the center of gravity of the car which makes it handle better, baring that you don't slam it to the ground and eliminate the suspention all together like the skateboards do(Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda go cart cars). To fix the sag in my Grabbers ass I cut the front spring 2 full coils, it now sits level and low, I have wide tires 225 65R 15's on the front and they do not rub. And for all you guy's that are going to tell me not to cut the coils with a torch I did not do it that way I cut them with a hack saw(6 blades and 2hrs, I cut 1 coils tried it then cut the other and liked it) Also the front does not bottom out on any thing(hard cornering, speed bump or dips in the road). The only problem I've had with this is that with the front end tightend up(new bushing all around) the ass end feel's very lose that is why I'm going with the 4leaf spring and a new sway bar that is the best way to ferm up the rear.

: : : : "looks better" ? Doubt it..... matter of opinion I guess but to me some of these lowered cars look just rediculas!
: : : : Saw a "lowered" old honda... micro wheels and all... what a laughable waste of money...
