: The 4-speed will bolt right up to the 3-speed/6cyl bell housing. Do you already have the mounts for the clutch pedal? That may be the real hassle. I cannot offer advice, because my car came with the clutch.

: You may not experience any clearance problems with the trans hump if you have an automatic. If I recall, the trans hump is wider for the auto. I had a bitch of a time on my 69.5 because the columshift 3-speed has a narrow hump that forced me to cut a serious chunk out of the floor. This necessitated cutting through the reinforcement above the trans mount and fabricating a bulge to accomodate the shift linkage. In 200,000 miles I have not experienced any structural problems.

: I wish I had some advice on the hydraulic clutch. It would be nice.

:
: : Ok Ive decided I want to put a 4sp manual trans in the 69.5 and link it to a 250 I6 (dependability and ecenomical)
: : what I need to know before I take the plunge is:
: : 1: what kida frames mods will the 4speed take to install?
: : 2: does the 4 speed and 3 speed have the same bell housing?
: : the car is a C4 170 now and I want to put a hydro clutch in it (to heck with the whole Z bar thing)
: : 3:what company sells inexpensive hydro clutch kits?
: : 4: any suggestions on a donor car for the clutch (Im kinda leaning toward a mazda P/U right now)

: : any one who has made this type of conversion please fill me in
: : thanks in advance
: : (PS dont bother saying "put a V8 in it", Ive got one of those already and I want the I6)
