: I weighed my Maverick at the Englishtown Raceway last year and she came in at just over 3,200 lbs. However, my Mav has a Boss 302 engine, Lakewood blowproof bell housing, Billet flywheel, 4sp transmission, 9" differential, driveshaft loop, traction bars, sub-frame connectors, roll cage, and larger rims and tires. I'm guessing that these add ons add up to about 300 lbs. You are right on track about weight. Shedding weight is like getting free horsepower.
:OK GUYS IM A ROOKIE TO RACING MAVERICKS AND COMETS BUT OWN A GT COMET THAT I DRIVE AS A DAILY DRIVE AND A 65 COMET (REPLICA OF A SPRINT) AND AM NOW BUILDING A 73 MAVERICK FOR STREET AND STRIP AND WITH NO WINDOW GLASS AND A GLASS FRT END,STOCK FRAME AND A FEW OTHER DIET PLANS RECIENTLY WEIGHED IT AT 1679lbs NO MOTOR NO TRANS OF COURSE BUT, AT THE TIME I WAS SCRAPPING THE PROJECT AND TAKING IT IN FOR RECYCLING AT THE SCRAP YARD WHEN I SEEN THE WEIGHT AND REMBERED LIGHT= SPEED AND AM CURRRENLY WORKING ON COMPLETING MY PROJECT...I'm 23 AND A MOPAR TECH AND CAN TELL YOU THAT A WELL BUILT SMALL BLOCK MAV WILL EAT MOST OF ITS COMPETION IN ITS ERA>
: I've got a quick question concerning weight....I've got a 69.5 Mav with a 200 in it right now, and i'm considering putting a 302. The main reason that i decided to stick with this car rather than buying something with a big block is weight....according to my title, the mav weighs in at ~2500lbs. It's a matter of personal preference but i think a light car with a well built small block can keep pace with a lot of the "boats" with big blocks. Anyways, now i see someone who claims that their mav. weighs in at 3698 i believe....way more than is worth towing around! So, my question: how much (approx.) does a maverick weigh? I'm sure there are differences between years, but i just find it hard to believe that my car could weigh that much (ever tried leaning on the fender??? Dents right in, it's so thin). Thanks for any help....
