In addition to the oher good pointers posted so far, here are a couple more.

1) use the right bolt for the situation. Allen key Grade 8 bolts work great in spots that you can't get a wrench - specially if you have a swivel-head allen socket.

2) use the 3/8" head bolts where access by wrench is limited. The reduced head gives a little more room.

3) never tighten up any of the bolts until you have all 16 of them threaded and the starter in/connected.

4) be patient. It's taken me over four hours to get headers on my engine. Other times, I can get them on in an hour. You figure...

I've got a 302 that I'm trying to put a pair of hooker headers on. But, for the life of me, I can't get all the bolts in...is there some sort of secret here. Some of the holes don't even allow me to get a socket or a wrench in the space to turn the bolts even if I could get them in. help!?
