Yeah, there is a notch in the early fenders. I have a '74 with early fenders that have had patches of metal welded to fill the holes, then the seams filled. You can't eve see it. As for switching from newer to older, I don't know. Cut out some notches????

: I have had a '71 'valance' on the front of my '74 Grabber since I switched it to the '73 style bumpers 4 years ago ( I have made NO mods to the fenders, only removed the 'extensions' and bolted the 'valance' in their place). The real problem my be the bumper and splash shield...I know the early cars had a "notch" cut in the fender to allow for the bumper mounting "tight" to the body... can any pre '73 owners help here?
: :
: : : whew...big word....anyway...i scored 2 perfect front frnders the other day off of a big bumper mav...i have a 72...will they fit?
: : : BTW... those who thought of cutting the top off thier mavs...dont go there...the car i got the fenders fron had it done and as i was lifting it to bring it up to the garage....it broke in half...literally
