I don't know if you have fixed your problem yet, but here's what happened to me. My car would start up and run fine, but then die for no reason. Then it wouldn't start at all for a while, then start fine again. When it wouldn't start, I could see that it was not getting fuel, and the filter was clean, so I said 'Ah-hah! Fuel pump!' Wrong! New fueld pump did not fix it, so with the help of Mr. Chilton, I discovered that the problem was that the bolt holding the fuel pump eccentric on the front of the cam had backed out, so the eccentric would not turn and drive the fuel pump. The eccentric is made of two pieces -- one bolts to the cam and has a little tab that goes into a hold in the fron of the cam to keep it from spinning, the other is a steel ring that spings around the outside of the other piece. The tab had also broken off of it, and probably still resides in my oil pan. Getting all those different-sized bolts back into the water pump was no fun, either.

If I did not help you, I hope I at least entertained everyone with my rambling!

Later,

Matt Williams
