What I did was use the connection from the old AM radio. The old connection had a "male-female" type connection. There were two wires comming from the hot source, so I figured one was hot and the other was the ground since the radio end connected with one hot wire and a back wire (I assumed to be ground). I grounded the new stereo to the same ground as the lighter and figured I didn't need the other one connected. So basicly the hot wire is the same, just the ground is different. The "snipping" was just to get rid of that stupid male-female plug. But my stereo works FINE, the problem is the dash panel lights. Why would it matter that the wire to the stereo be connected for the dash lights to work??

: What wire did you splice into? Why didn't you tap
: into the lighter with a fusable link or run your
: own wires from the fuse box? Oh well, is the stereo
: working now? The mav wiring is a pain as far as
: older cars go. What exactly did you connect into?
: give as much info as you can. Hopefully you did
: not burn out the switch. Everything else is relatiely
: easy to deal with.
