Maybe YOU should go tell your mother she wants you...

: Maybe you should try keeping it there.

:
: : You made a good point Craig; If you spend 3 to 6-grand on body/paint/interior/engine, you can pay it now or pay later but either way, you're gonna spend the money. So if a person buys this car, He's not gonna have to deal with all that 'cause he's paying for it up front. Oh well, I guess some of us have to eat some crowe sooner or later (my foot is in my mouth)...

: :
: : : without seeing the car, it is hard to say exactly what it is worth, but I will let you all know that I paid $2600 for my Maverick BEFORE I restored it. Why did I pay so much? Because it was exactly what I was looking for. I was wanting a 1970-1972 2 door Maverick, 6 cyl, absolutely NO chrome trim down the sides and no rust (I bondo'd up my last Maverick....never again). I was wanting a basic body to make a Grabber clone with a six (for gas economy). What I found was a 1970 Grabber, 48,000 miles, 6cyl, Automatic, No A/C, No Power Steering. The interior was mint and I have done nothing to it at all. The outside of the car was still shiney and really didn't need painted. I only painted it because it had enough dings and scratches that it was beyond a touch up job. I dissassmbled the car completely (as much as one can on a uni-body), had the car painted (dissassembled), and put the car back together. The only chrome that was redone was the back bumper and the quarter window "boomer rang" chrome. The only N.O.S parts were the 3 "Maverick" emblems. The front bumper, grill, grill emblem, headlite doors, rear tailights, gas cap, etc are all original.

: : : There is a sorted story of it's history....old lady bought it new, never drove it, she died a few years later, son inherited it, he was a doctor, but the car in his basement, the guy I bought it off of bought it from the doctor, he lost interest, etc. I also found the original bill of sale, original title (from 1970), temporary paper plate (from 1970), and build sheet in the car.

: : : The guy I bought it from was originally asking $3500 for the car. He went to $3200 when I called him. He said his bottom dollar was $2700. I haggled to $2600.

: : : The main thing to consider is the condition of the body. Yeah, you can buy Mavericks all day long for $500, but if you have to spend $3000 in body work to fix all the rust, then you are better off paying a little more to get a rust free car.

: : : Value is always is the mind of the buyer not the seller), that is the key. Keep this in mind and buy what you want. I have no problem with people who sell their stuff for less....they know what their stuff is worth.

: : : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
: : : : I have a 70 Maverick with just over 50K original. It's canary yellow with black striping. I've had it repainted but matched the original colors.
: : : : The interior is now a spiff two-tone cloth and it's in great shape. Most of this car's life was in a garage. I got it with 13K and put most of the miles on it going to high school and college. Dad's a mechanic so I had to do all the Maint. work.
: : : : It's two doors with the straight six 220. Automatic. No AC or other fancy gizmos but it's in better shape than any other Maverick I've ever seen.
: : : : Unfortunately, I've got to sell as my parents bought me a new car and need to pay it off. I'm asking $2,750. I know it's above average, but the car is aove average. I'll also arrange delivery if possible.
: : : : Give me a holler if you're interested. Please make sure you want this car to drive and enjoy. I don't want it parted or used to rebuild some heap. It's in too good of condition.
