Ditto here. I went through the system, took the dask assbly apart, etc. Must be a common early Mav. "quirk." I've wondered if a higher output alternator might help though. I've noticed that the more drain (lights, stereo, elect. radiator fan going) the dimmer the dash lights. FWIW.

: I have had my '72Grabber for 15years and the dash lights have always been dim. I dont think that Ford maid dash lights bright until around 1980!! You guys are just use to looking at newer car dashes. Mavericks are old cars give them a break.

: : I have the same problem on my '72! I had the instrument cluster out and completely went over it when I restored the car. All the bulbs are working, and the dimmer is also functioning properly. Could anyone shed some more light on this???

: : : I have 2 1970 mavs and both of them have very
: : : dim instrument panel lights. I`ve checked the bulbs
: : : they are ok. Can it be that the paint used on the
: : : gauges has lost its magic. The turn signals lights
: : : are behind green plastic and the warning lights
: : : are behind red plastic they are just fine.
: : : Any help ??????
