A MD inspection is a state of Maryland auto inspection.
One has to go through this farce every time a car
is bought or sold. ( I would have replaced these hoses anyway this spring,
but I wuold have taken the time to locate a manual and have all of the facts FIRST.
: What is a MD inspection? It is ATF fluid Ford Type F it takes almost 2qt.s to fill the entire system. The fluid you put in is probably a newer type of fluid for the higher pressure systems on todays vehicles and it probably has a low viscosity rating than type F does that is why your pump was making noise. You should probably change the fluid to make it right. Good luck and I hope you dont loose your pump.
: : bought a 73 4dr 302 last month. had to replace some power steering hoses
: : (soft & old-- would not pass MD inspection)
: : When I drained the fluid, it was red-- like ATF fluid.
: : New power sterring fluid is colorless (yellow).I am without
: : a chilton, and the local mechs don't want to take the
: : time to talk. I won't elaborate on the IQ of the part's
: : clerk.
: : At first when I replaced it, the pump started 'moaning'.
: : After 2 days (approx 35 miles)it has quieted, but is still faint.
: : Any feedback?
