: Besides a new set of points, and a cap and rotor, check to see if the advance is working well on the distributor. Also, You might try filling up your tank with gas and adding one quart of transmission fluid. I know it sounds crazy, but a buddy of mine is a mechanic, has his own shop, and recommended this to me. It supposedly will clean the carb.
