He said its NOT a V8. :-) Oh well, I'm sure those specs will help someone.

: The V-8 you're refering to is a 302 cubic inch (4.9 liter) 90-degree smallblock. In the 1971 Maverick, it was rated at 210 horse power @ 4600 RPM and 296 ft lbs. torque @ 2600 RPM.

: This rating is at the flywheel and will be less at the rear wheels. I don't know exactly what specifications you're looking for, but the tune-up specs are as follows:

: *Spark plugs---BRF-42 gap = .032-.036
: *Point gap = .021---point dwell = 24-29
: *Ignition timing = 6 degrees BTDC (add 2 to 6 degrees for high altitude cars)
: *Idle spd. = 800 RPM (neutral) 650 RPM (Drive)
: *Firing order = 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
: *Oil filter = Motorcraft FL1-A or equivilant

: ...let us know what other specifications you need and we'll be happy to help...

: : Hello everyone, I am 18 and got a old maverick, 1971. And I wonder if anyone got any technical specs on the maverick. I dont know whick engine I got since I havent started to fix it yet. But it is not a V8. I would be very glad for all information.
