I've had the same thing happen to me accept for the fuel sending problem.
1. the brake light switch causes the lights to go off and on when not making good contact, $5.00 part easy to replace(for a contorsionist), this fixed the flickering lights on my car.
2. the wireing to the altinator has a fray or partial loss of contact, that's the reason for the alt. light, found 2 on my alt. harness after rebuilding the engine, repaired them no more problems.
3. the fuel sending unit is grounded to the tank which is grounded to the frame, if you coated the outside of the tank this might be your problem with its loss of contact?

: I would say that you probably have more than one short in the wiring harness.
: 1. go to the local library, probably the main one and photocopy the old
: chilton wiring diagram books. get everything you can on the wiring. Ref
: section.

: 2. You need to make sure that all of the fuses are the right ones a cheap
: fix that some idiots use when they keep blowing fuses is to but in a heavier fuse.
: The long term affect is wiring short all over

: 3.
