Ben, it "decodes" as follows:
+WDW - M identifies it as a Mustang/Cougar/Maverick/Comet application (could have been installed on any of these models)
+0KC identifies it as built the 3rd week of December 1970
+2.79 identifies it as a 2.79:1 ratio "open" differential (a Trac Loc would have an "L" in place of the "." (dot)
+8 identifies it as having an 8" ring gear
+510A identifies the plant at which it was built (sorry, I don't have the actual "plant" codes)
How's that for all you never really wanted to know ;-)
Info above comes from my "Factory" Ford Shop Manuals BTW, best investment to date!
