: It's not that they're bad (for every car); it's just that they're bad for Mavericks BECAUSE the upper shock mounts on these cars were NOT designed to carry the full weight of the car. So if you "pump 'em up" too much, you can literally rip the mounts out of the unibody. Mavericks are notorius for rearend "sag" BECAUSE Ford only put 3-leaf springs on them. They give a softer ride but after about 5 years, they become fatigued. A 4-leaf "towing" option was available from Ford but almost nobody ever ordered it. Last (but not least), the handling with the proper springs and Gas-charged shocks is far better than with air-shocks and worn-out old springs with worn-out old bushings. New 4-leaf heavy duty springs are available for these cars for a relatively cheap price. : That's it!..... : : : Sandman all of your questions are answered 1000 time's with remark's from everyone on this board and the earlier board.
