I live in the salt belt and saw my Maverick rust away, even though it was rust proofed.
: The cure? Don't EVER drive it in the winter time. Snow, Ice, and Salt are terrible for any car, especially a Maverick. These cars were never built to "last", as was the story of most cars built in the 70's. If you don't want it to rust, it is real simple, don't drive it in the snow.
