What year is your car? I have a '72 and went looking for a new switch/harness that goes under the steering wheel and through the column and found that only one from a 70-72 Maverick/Comet will work.

: Yes, I did check the fuse. I agree that on the face it does sound silly but since the turn signal blinker was bad. I covered all the basics. I really do think the problem is in the switch inside the steering column.
