The 5th Annual Maverick Roundup was held this weekend (September 4-6)
in Columbus Ohio.
The event started on Friday but I only arrived Friday night, so I went to the show on Saturday.
When I got there, only half a dozen Mavericks were there and many were under car covers so I went to look at all the drag cars.
There were a few Mavericks and Comets and one of the Mavericks had rear Shelby lights. After taking some pictures and watching some of the drags,
I returned to where the Mavericks and Comets were parked. I met Craig and Chuck for the first time and was asked to help Chuck judge the cars.
There were 16 cars to judge and the whole process took 4 hours. Just to mention a few, there were some early model Grabbers and GTs, one had 4 wheel disk brakes,
a 76 that had the LDO package, a few had the 351 and the Best of Show winner was a souped up dragster with a fireball paint job.
Later on that night, there was a cruise in and all kinds of cars showed up. At the end, there were two cars that put on a show with their exhaust systems that shot out flames.
I had a blast, got to meet some real nice people and hope more people will show up next year. It took me 14 hours to get there and I went without my Maverick.
