Just for shits and giggles::: Some people have
a hard time seeing the difference in 8 and 9 inch
rears. I run a Chevy(Excuse me please) stock car.
when the track let us use 9" Ford rears under
Chevys years ago I didn't know. Neither did a guy
that actually put an 8" in his racer. What I was
told stuck with me forever. Looking at the pinion,
the bottom 2 nuts holding the center section in
can not be taken out with a socket and extension.
Part of the casting hangs down in front of these
bolts. You have to use a wrench. An 8" rear, you
can take all the nuts out using a socket and
extension. The 9" is just that much bigger. I had
a really small rear in my 69 1/2 that had a rear
cover on it and I believe the largest front loading
rear that came in a Maverick was an 8" rear.
